A B O U T

Isabelle Riche is a Canadian composer and visual artist currently based in Newfoundland and Labrador & Nova Scotia. Isabelle graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of Kings College and Dalhousie University in 2020. She continued her studies and completed a Masters in Music Composition from Iceland University of the Arts in Reykjavík, Iceland in 2022.

Isabelle has studied under composers Jérôme Blais, Thurídur Jónsdóttir and Pétur Ben.

She has worked as a film composer and sound designer for the National Film Board of Canada.

Isabelles' compositions have been performed by renowned groups such as the Sofia Philharmonic (Bulgaria), Caput ensemble (Iceland), Orkest de Ereprijs (Netherlands), and the Maritime Brass Quintet (Canada).

Her music has been workshopped by Symphony Nova Scotia and the Siggi String Quartet.

Isabelle has provided a broad range of visual artwork for theatrical posters & print.

In addition to music and visual arts she is an award winning poet.

Winner of Arts and Letters Senior Division for Music Composition, Newfoundland and Labrador (2021).

Winner of the Dalhousie Women’s Division Music Prize for academic excellence (2020).

Helen Skuggedal Reed Memorial scholarship for organ, (2018/2019).

David MacDonald scholarship for organ, (2016/2017).

Sole Canadian Composer selected to participate in Orkest de Ereprijs' festival for Young Composers in 2020.

RECENT PROJECTS & PERFORMANCES

Most Men Run Away Screaming: for Solo piano and Orchestra, performed by the Sofia Philharmonic in Bulgaria Hall (2023).
The Oceanic Gaze: Demi Concerto for Cello and Chamber Orchestra: performed by Caput Ensemble in Harpa Reykjavík (2022).
Nocturnal Paintings: was a 45 minute piano recital composed for pianist Esmée Gilbert thanks to a grant from Arts NL that premiered in September of 2021.
